Art of Pacific NorthWest Native Culture; cylindrical relief sculptures, to be stacked like a totem pole and displayed in the art show (Secaucus, May 2010)
I'm a NY and NJ certified art educator; a graduate of Hofstra University, having studied illustration at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Born and raised in Long Island, I have been a permanent substitute and leave replacement art teacher for the East Rockaway, NY School District. I also taught ceramics, drawing and crafts at North Bergen High School in New Jersey and K-3 art at Hyde Leadership Charter School in Brooklyn, NY. I had settled into an art teacher position for K-5 at PS31 Samuel F. Dupont in Brooklyn, introducing to the students a previously non existent art curriculum. After 2 years the pandemic hit and from the uncertainty the school lost funding for the program, so my journey continued back to Long Island where I became a permanent substitute for the Uniondale school district, and most recently leave replacement Art Teacher at Amityville High school teaching Studio Art and ceramics.
For your viewing pleasure are the products of the projects my students of grades K-12 have created in Mr. Caprino's art room...
